old lady river

vintage knit - somewhere in exeter, chinos - asos, necklace - new look, bracelets - various, bandana - paddy's

Outfit inspired mostly by old ladies. Beige trousers and a cream 80s knit, call me Vera. I thought the necklace/bracelets/bandana gave it a bit of a chola twist and made me look less elderly. Also my front room is awesome.

Today has mostly consisted of nearly crying at the end of come dine with me because the nice man won, being tired, housework, and listening to Bangers and AFI on repeat. Now I am going to eat cheese & onion mini bites from sainsburys, and look for some rad interior design ideas for my bedroom.

loco

Chola style is definitely under-represented in the UK, and it makes me sad. Such a bad ass look and one which I really wish I could pull off with as much ferocity as this girl I found on the stylescout blog. Expect a more in depth blog on the chola steeze soon!

Rad & Radder

Everything about these looks is awesome. Flannel shirt under denim cut off, on top of lace top. Cropped zebra print-esque jacket with high waisted, rolled up stonewash jeans. This is what my Summer wardrobe aspires to be.

old lady shoes

loafer/mocassins - ??? (hoyfashion.co.uk)

I feel like coming across these whilst innocently browsing for interesting things to blog about (failed on that front didn't I!) may just have inspired me to break out my loafer/mocassin style old lady shoes. I have a bright orange pair that I got in New York last year and have never worn, and a red pair I got in New Look (also last year) that I have only worn once. I'm feeling red ones with boyfriend fit chinos...

oh deer

deer ring - ??? (found on hoyfashion.co.uk)

This ring is fucking brilliant. I'm not usually a fan of rings, I find them irritating but this is one ring I definitely would wear on a daily basis. Must find where I can buy this genius little finger decoration!

hellz summer '10

Short sleeve knit with gradient fringe detail

Front drape detail dress / Jersey tank dress

It is no secret that I am pretty fanatical about Hellz Bellz. Mostly because the label produces bad ass clothes for the bad ass bitch. The new collection for Summer '10 adheres to this description pretty well, I feel. Named 'To Dye For' (pun intended), the collection is edgy but not ridiculous. It's definitely wearable edge, not 'I could never wear that on the beach in a million years' edge.
I picked out a few of my favourites from the lookbook on the website. I love the gradient fringe detail on the t-shirt. Such a simple-looking way of making a plain knit t-shirt rad. The drape detail dress is a nice update on the little black dress and one which I would delight in wearing. Draping is everywhere at the minute, and I am not usually one for a draped dress. Its too girly for me, generally. This dress, however, is draped but without any of that girly stuff, its draped with a toughness which screams 'I AM BAD ASS, HEAR ME ROAR'.
After browsing the lookbook several times for longer than is probably normal, it just seems there is no fuss to this collection. The details are bold with no fussiness. The silhouettes are often dramatic, without being over the top. The clothes themselves are feminine but (to my joy) there isn't a floral print in sight. I feel like 'To Dye For' proclaims 'being a girly girl is for pussys' and I definitely agree.

bralet shmalet

lace corset tank - nastygal

After months and months of futile searching for a decent bralet type thing, I think, maybe, perhaps, I have found the one. I found the one, before, however, on asos, but after a week of umm'ing and aah'ing over whether I could pull it off or not, I returned to find that it was sold out. I convinced myself this was a blessing in disguise, that maybe it was a sign from a higher power that it just wasn't meant to be. Bralets were not meant to be introduced to my wardrobe, perhaps.
However, the fact that I still want one so badly and have planned out several possible bralet ensembles in case I ever do get around to actually buying one, I think, points to the fact that all systems should be go on my wardrobe/bralet union.
So, I think it is obvious that I need to get this into my clothing collection asap, before I repeat the asos bralet heartbreak. They may say it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, but I say 'Fuck that, I want this bralet'. So there.
